We are a community archaeology group.
We meet at Dacre or Pateley Bridge on most Tuesdays throughout the year and have done for the past twelve years. Our interests are in all aspects of archaeology in and around the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
There has been a varied programme with three funded projects including an earlier investigation of Nidderdale’s historic iron working and two that are current in 2016. One of these is Our Farm Heritage which is a part of the Upper Nidderdale Landscape Partnership Scheme, the second being Prehistoric Nidderdale which is based at Dacre and which started formally on 15 January 2015.
This website mainly covers the period of the group since the start of the Prehistoric Project.
Prehistory is now a part of the primary school syllabus at KS2 and an important element of the project is supporting this initiative. Please go to the schools liason page for further information or contact our Education Co-ordinator, Richard Langley by emailing richardlangley ‘at’ live.co.uk.
